When The Time Is Right To Try CBD-Dominant Products

High-CBD products are worth celebrating every day, not just on CBD Day (August 8). Where does this cannabinoid belong in your routine? Learn why you might want to try CBD-dominant products, and we offer some product recommendations to get your journey started.
Why try high-CBD products?
You won’t feel high
The “high” associated with cannabis consumption is the result of THC interacting with your endocannabinoid system (ECS). Where this interaction causes that famous cerebral feeling, CBD’s interaction with the ECS doesn’t produce the same.
What does this mean? If you’re consuming CBD on its own, you won’t experience any sort of intoxicating feeling. When you consume THC products that contain CBD, the CBD content lessens the impact of THC on your system. That’s because CBD modulates, or modifies, how THC interacts with the receptors in your endocannabinoid system.
CBD may help you feel relaxed
People often say that CBD products help them feel more relaxed, balanced, and less on edge. CBD may help manage inflammation as well, so bodily relaxation may occur alongside mental ease.
Relatedly, CBD has been found to bind to 5-HT1A receptors, which are serotonin receptors, thereby potentially elevating your mood and helping melt away your stress. This may explain why CBD products have become so widely used to manage anxiety and increase feelings of relaxation.
They may minimize the munchies
Cannabis consumption is often associated with the munchies (and, consequently, endless DoorDash scrolling). This phenomenon, though, is associated with THC, not CBD. There is instead moderate evidence that CBD may help manage appetite, so for those looking to relax with cannabis and not run up their delivery budget, adding CBD into the mix may be the right step.
What to consider when choosing the right high-CBD product
Dosage and potency
Many high-CBD products come with a recommendation for an ideal serving size. For example, many CBD edibles contain 10mg of CBD per piece. Tinctures, on the other hand, may be designed to deliver closer to 40 mg per dose.
Keep in mind that it’s unlikely that you’ll experience negative effects if you consume a large amount of CBD. Since THC gives you those heady effects, and perhaps one hell of a “took too much” story to go along with it, you’re much more likely to not have a good time if you take too much THC. As always, with any cannabis product, start low, go slow, and get a sense of how you feel before taking more CBD.
CBD to THC ratios
If you’re drawn to high-CBD products that also contain THC, look closely at the THC to CBD ratio of any products you’re considering. You’ll see these expressed as, for example, 1:1 THC: CBD if there’s an equal amount of both cannabinoids. A 2:1 THC:C BD ratio tells you there’s twice as much THC as CBD, and you may see it referred to as a “high-THC ratio.” A 2:1 CBD: THC ratio instead tells you there’s twice as much CBD as THC, and you may see it referred to as a “high-CBD ratio.”
This all matters because more THC is generally favored for a more potent experience. By comparison, a higher CBD ratio may lead to a less potent experience since CBD counteracts some of THC’s most pronounced effects. It may also make higher doses more suitable since low-THC products are much less likely to bring on an overwhelming high.
In general, if you’re looking for intense relaxation, you may prefer a higher THC ratio. For a more active or focused experience with no heady effects, you may prefer a higher CBD ratio. There’s also a 1:1 ratio, which may help you feel balanced without any overly intense effects. You’re most likely to see these ratios with ingestible products such as edibles and tinctures.
Your ideal ratio is subjective — it varies by person. Some people find that a 20:1 CBD:THC ratio, a very high ratio product, is necessary for the type of relaxation they’re seeking. Others prefer a CBD:THC ratio of 2:1 or 5:1. Consider trying several ratios to figure out which may best suit you, and start with lower THC ratios before trying higher ones.
Other minor cannabinoids
Just as you’ll often see CBD to THC ratios, you’ll also see ratios of CBD to other cannabinoids. These may include CBD to CBN ratios, especially in products formulated to potentially help with sleep. In products formulated for localized relief from skin inflammation, you may see CBD to CBG ratios or CBD to CBC ratios.
Full spectrum vs. broad spectrum vs. isolate
If you’re shopping for CBD products sourced from hemp — AKA, they don’t come from state-legal, high-THC cannabis grown in New York State — these products fall into three categories.
Full-spectrum: These CBD products contain all cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant, including the trace amounts of THC that develop naturally in hemp. Some folks prefer full-spectrum products because they contain all the plant compounds, including terpenes, and these compounds work together synergistically to deliver stronger therapeutic benefits via a phenomenon called the entourage effect.
Broad-spectrum: Broad-spectrum CBD products are full-spectrum products without any THC. Like full-spectrum products, they may deliver strong therapeutic effects via the entourage effect. For those who want to experience the full spectrum but want to avoid all THC whatsoever, broad-spectrum products are a good option.
Isolate: If your product contains only CBD and no other cannabinoids, it’s made from CBD isolate, an extract which is almost entirely made up of a single cannabinoid, usually around 99%.
The best high-CBD products at The Travel Agency
Papa & Barkley Releaf Balms
Available in 3:1 THC: CBD or 3:1 CBD: THC, Papa & Barkley’s Releaf Balms are formulated with nourishing oils such as lavender, peppermint, and eucalyptus. The cannabinoids in these balms are extracted via solventless processes, ensuring that the plant’s full spectrum of compounds remains in the final product. Applying these high-CBD cannabis topicals on pain points and sore muscles may deliver especially robust therapeutic effects.
Beboe Downtime 1:1 Edibles
With 5 mg each of CBD and THC per gummy, Beboe’s Downtime 1:1 edibles may melt away your stress and guide you directly into relaxation. They may also promote restful sleep, though, since all Beboe gummies are designed to be socially dosed, you may find them effective for a low-key chill sesh with friends. Since they contain THC and CBD in equal amounts, they’re among the higher-potency CBD gummies available in the New York market.
Chime & Chill products

From edibles to tinctures and topicals, Chime & Chill’s line of CBD products is vast and varied. The brand’s K.O. Double Dose tincture contains CBD alongside caryophyllene, the terpene that binds to ECS receptors in a manner similar to cannabinoids. In doing so, it may aid with CBD absorption. You may thus find that this THC-free CBD oil, with 37.5mg CBD per dose, delivers especially strong therapeutic effects.
We also love Chime & Chil’s PMU: Light & Sweet edibles, which contain 15mg each CBC and CBG alongside 12mg CBD per gummy. Made with white chocolate and ground espresso, these gummies may elevate your mood and boost your energy. The brand’s Drift Away Melts are the rare cannabis edible to contain the cannabinoid CBT — 10mg per chocolate square alongside 20mg CBD, 10mg CBC, and 2mg CBN. These cannabinoids, in these ratios, may together help you sink into serenity at night after a jam-packed day.
Foria CBD oils

All the extracts in this product are delivered via an extra virgin olive oil base, keeping your experience as smooth as it gets.
Remedy Plant Lab products
Remedy Plant Lab’s CBD product line is among New York’s most diverse. Stir its Happy Honey (500mg CBD per container) into your morning beverage or sweet breakfast for a soothing start to your day. Care for your skin with its Clove Eucalyptus Muscle + Joint Relief CBD Spray, with 500mg CBD and 100mg CBN per spray bottle. For hair care, there’s the Monoi Jasmine Hair + Scalp Therapy oil, with 300mg CBD per container. Some people also say that the Ginger Black Pepper tincture, with 525mg CBD per bottle, provides healing sensations.
1906 Relief capsules
For potential daytime support managing pain, consider 1906’s Relief AM gummies. With 10mg CBD, 8.3mg THC, 6.7mg CBG, and 3.3mg CBC per serving and a sour watermelon flavor, these potent capsules may help you jumpstart your mornings. At night, 1906’s Relief PM gummies, with robust plum flavors, may support whole-body relief and promote sleep. Each serving contains 3.3mg each CBC and CBN alongside a potent 8.3mg THC, not to mention 6.7mg CBDV, which is associated with the same therapeutic benefits as CBD.
Doctor Solomon’s Restore Lotion
Formulated with a 1:1 THC:CBD ratio, Doctor Solomon’s Restore Lotion may hydrate skin and provide localized relief from discomfort. As a transdermal topical, you’re likely to feel the Restore Lotion systemically, throughout your body, instead of locally, just in the spot where you’ve applied them. With a recommended dosage of 3.77mg each THC and CBD per application, though, any heady, cerebral sensations that arise may feel minimal. The dominant sensation may be relaxation from head to toe, both inside and out.
Wana Quick Fast Asleep gummies
Designed to promote feelings of sleepiness within five to 15 minutes of consumption, Wana Quick Fast Asleep gummies contain 10mg CBD and 2mg each CBN, CBG, and THC per piece. The 5:1 CBD:THC ratio makes it unlikely that you’ll experience overwhelming effects, and the CBN in each gummy may help you feel properly sedated for sleep. Enjoy a gummy, close your eyes, and wake up in zen.
