Sky High Delivery: Introducing Our New Feathered Cannabis Couriers

When we started thinking about new ways to deliver your cannabis orders across NYC, one question came to mind: Why not let the city’s most iconic couriers handle it? Enter the Cannabis Carrier Pigeon Program. Yes, pigeons. Tiny backpacks. Cannabis. Only in New York, right?

“As The Travel Agency, it’s only natural we’d explore every mode of delivery, even pigeons,” says co-founder Arana Hankin-Biggers. “And in NYC, there’s no better courier than the ever-present, beloved pigeon.”

Coming in 2026, the Carrier Pigeon Program will become the fastest, most eco-friendly delivery system the city has ever seen. Imagine the skyline dotted with mini backpacks zipping along invisible routes above traffic – a city alive with innovation, whimsy, and the occasional coo.

Twenty feathered friends participated in our recent pilot program, completing delivery routes across Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens. Trainers report the birds adapted in just a few days – because city life is basically their cardio – and yes, the program earned an official humane treatment certification.

Our pigeons trained like real New Yorkers: by walking the delivery route before taking flight. At our Downtown Brooklyn headquarters – aka the Coop – our resident pigeon expert Jeff leverages his 20 years of experience to oversee carrier pigeon training.

So, how do these stalwart delivery birds get the cannabis to its destination? Each pigeon wears a backpack carrying up to one gram, specially designed to be as light as their own feathers and equipped with a homing device so we can track orders. Still, we recommend keeping your windows open when your order is on the way, because our star pigeon Agatha sometimes arrives earlier than expected!

Designing backpacks small enough for pigeons but capable of holding cannabis took multiple prototypes. Our team tested soft straps, tiny buckles, and even miniature weatherproof materials (because a soggy joint is nobody’s idea of a good sesh.)

Each of our pigeons lets their personality shine through in their work. Some show a flair for adventure, zig-zagging mid-flight like they’re auditioning for the next Broadway show; others are meticulous planners, taking the straightest possible route from point A to B.
