Celebrating Mother’s Day with The Travel Agency

Arana on Blunt Blowin’ Mama: “Cannabis keeps things interesting”

Arana shared her journey from real estate development to cannabis on the Blunt Blowin’ Mama podcast. Hosted by Shonitria Anthony, the podcast centers around community support for women, particularly Black and brown moms, who prioritize self-care through cannabis and plant medicine.

Arana highlighted the importance of providing opportunities for women and people of color within the cannabis industry, emphasizing her commitment to increasing the presence of Black and women-owned businesses in cannabis, specifically in New York.

“What attracted me to working in this industry in the first place was giving people of color and giving women opportunities to build generational wealth in this industry,” said Arana.

Balancing motherhood and consumption

One of the most insightful aspects of the discussion was Arana’s candid reflection on motherhood and cannabis consumption. Despite the societal stigma, Arana and Shonitria both shared how cannabis has been an integral part of their lives as mothers, and how products like vapes and gummies can help.

“I used to smoke a lot more joints before I had children, and now it’s really hard,” explained Arana. “[Now] I live in New York City in an apartment with no balcony, so vapes can kind of be the go-to in New York for busy moms running between trains and work.”

Shonitria and Arana explored how cannabis can also help mothers stay calm and patient during hectic moments with their children, fostering a more relaxed and understanding parenting approach.

“Gummies can help you while you’re out so you’re not tripping when your kid is on the floor or something,” Shonitria emphasized. “You have a lot more patience, and you understand that they’re a kid.”

Arana also emphasized the significance of cannabis within a marriage, and of being with a partner who appreciates the plant as much as she does.

“[It can] ease the pains of marriage… and keep things interesting,” she noted. “We have a lot of fun consuming together.”
